Helping Each Other
Wouldn't it be great to share our ideas,
opinions and views on issues relating to pregnancy and parenting? I would like
to start this new section of The Parent Site with some great input from YOU, the
visitor. You are the one who makes this site possible!
How much do you rely on the internet for
parenting and/or pregnancy questions that you have?
|
I don't know what I would have done without the internet
during my pregnancy and early baby days. People comment often on how I am so
"confident in my abilities" (said at times as a criticism, as if it is not
good to think you CAN handle it) I was scared and nervous to embark on all
these new challenges. The one thing that I know for sure is that when there
are things I don't know, I can find out. I took a baby first aid class so
that I could deal with any emergency in that regard. That class and the
ability to research and talk to other parents (often online) have allowed me
to relax and enjoy my wonderful son with wonder and confidence.

I wouldn't say I rely on the internet for information. I have a great doctor
who is very involved with his patients (any time I have a question, I never have to wait more than 15 minutes to hear from him personally!) I use the internet for a lot of research and look for answers to my questions, but I never act on advice I read without consulting an expert in the area concerned (usually my doctor), unless it is harmless (for instance, a fruit smoothie for breakfast may help curb morning sickness -- it worked for me!)
